Next time I get too obsessed with a TV show, please remind me "what happened with WC and POI".
Damn I had forgotten how hard it was to say goodbye....

*Sigh* I'm sad. I'm so freaking sad.
This finale episode was everything I was hoping for. It was intense, and yet mostly full of human moments. And we had this big Finch/Reese farewell. And it turned out not to be too much of the bloodbath they had been teasing about.
Samaritan is gone, the Machine survived. So did everyone.
Except John. *cries*
Strangely enough I think it would have been a little less painful if it hadn't been only John.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad for each individual who survived and it did feel right for each of them. The Machine lives on, watching over us. and Shaw is now in charge of saving the numbers (with the DC team, and whoever the Machine recruited). Fusco made it out, because Fusco makes it out of *every* situation. And if I could have had only one left, it would have been Fusco. And Finch got to see Grace again. He sure has a lot of explaining to do, but she'll probably understand him. And that was cute. And Root isn't really dead since she lives on in/as the Machine.
And this is exactly how John would have wanted it, too.

John did die a hero too. Which, if really he had to die, is exactly what I was expected of him. Saving the world, one person at a time. A heroic and meaningful death.
I knew it was coming. I knew I shouldn't have gotten to attached to John. Because it hurts.

And I like the open and hopeful ending. But it's not going to be the same without John. I mean, when I see a surveillance camera, I smile, because I know the Machine is watching me. And the Machine will continue to watch me. And I was so pleased to get my very own US social security number, because I knew that if I got into troubles, John will come to the rescue...

Sorry, enough with the tears. Because I did love this finale. For all the series finales I've seen (that's not that many actually), this one I think is the best one. It was perfectly in line with the whole show, and very emotional, and not without humor. I loved all the little bits between the characters. Fusco and Reese, Finch not able to say goodbye in the subway. Shaw crying! God her *face*. And of course the whole rooftop sequence. Finch and the Machine, Finch and Reese. Finch trying to save Reese, Reese actually saving Finch.
And really everyone ended exactly when they wanted/hoped for. Even John.

Not sure where Bear had disappeared when it all went to hell in the subway, but glad he got out safe. :)

All in all, it was a great conclusion to a great, engaging, though-provocating show. And it was satisfying. I don't feel the urge to go and write any "fix it" because everything seemed so fitting (yes, even John's death.)

Ah John Tal- .... by the way. ;)

Damn I'll miss this show. *snif*

I had been waiting a long time for finally something with Matt that I could watch and appreciate. And that pilot looked pretty damn good. It sure has quite some potential for a full season, and Matt is awesome. Plus, he definitely rocks the 40's suits.
Quick very vaguely spoilery ramble )
So it's about a cop who catches red-handed a conman and offers said conman a deal to work together. Rocky at first, their partnership soon turns into a real friendship (and maybe more?). It's called Zootopia. *grin*

Yay! Finally got to see it! And I really liked it. And thank you, Disney, for dropping the princess thing. The heroine wants to become a cop, becomes a cop. She's strong, and badass, and not girly. And not a freaking princess. She's modern. This is the kind of heroine I wish were more common when I was growing up. Because it's okay not to want to be a princess.

Also, the movie deals with surprisingly complex/serious issues for a kid movie. Racism, the difficulty to live up to your ideals of acceptance and tolerance, how fragile it all is.

And since I had finally seen The Godfather 2 months ago, I was really happy to be able to catch the reference. :D
Only one episode left *sigh* I'm going to miss them....

Well, except for Greer. Mouahahahah Greer's dead!! *happy dance*
I'll admit it was kind of a little stupid... There was absolutely no reason in the world for Greer not to get out of this room. But I do like the poetry of Samaritan killing Greer. And at least he'll stop talking now. Why oh why do the bad guys always have to talk so much?

I loved the little glimpses of where would our heroes be in a world without the Machine. Nathan and Carter would still be alive (not sure *why* Carter would be alive...) but John would have ended killing himself despite saving Jessica. Which I actually found terribly tragic. The fact that he doesn't even appear in his own AU, just a number on a stone, added to his blatant absence in a world with no Machine.
No Machine, but still Samaritan, so it's probably just as well that the Machine is out there. If only for only a few more days...

Harold having to kill The Machine to destroy Samaritan was my idea of how it would come down since the beginning, so no surprise here. Though not sure why Harold had to voice-password protect the virus...

Bonus point for Harold speaking French and John's Willy Wonka reference. :)

But Fusco, oh Fusco... He gave me the scare of my life there! Apparently Samaritan doesn't recruit based on intelligence, cause really, not checking if the Detective was wearing a vest... It seemed a bit odd that they're only bringing up those dead bodies from the tunnel now, but at least there's hope we'll find out the end game of this plot next week.

And then we all go back to the opening scene of 5x01. The Machine calling, a deserted subway station... So something tells me Samaritan isn't going to go down without a fight.

Made it home *just* on time, 8:55, after a 13 hour shift... Though my brain was a little fried, so I'm not sure I've followed everything. But that episode had so much to offer!

"Rest in Peace, cocoa Puffs" Awww I'm gonna cry :'(
Shaw turning in circles on the carousel... *cries*
And then the Machine talking to Harold with Root's voice. No, really it is weird. And hard! How are we supposed to be mourning and get closure when her voice is still there, reminding us of her presence all the damn time?

the number of the day is POTUS!! LOL
Relevant-one, who apparently just became irrelevant. That was bugging me the whole episode, until Shaw made the chilling hypothesis that Samaritan doesn't give a damn and is not even doing his relevant side of the job.(
(Not that the threat seemed that big, the Secret Service could also do its own job sometimes...)

Logan Pierce? What the... And another old number? Is Reese glitching or what? And Harper?! What the hell is going one?
Ooooh new team! The Machine is recruiting to save more numbers! It's an army of vigilantes secretly saving the world one number at a time! That's the original team's legacy. No matter what happens to them, their mission will survive them. For ever and ever. :)
I love this idea. It made me feel all fuzzy inside.

I also liked Reese being protective of Shaw, and understand what she was going through. And Reese and Shaw kicking ass is always a nice bonus. :)

Ok, now it's time to get Harold back. And go kick Samaritan's ass. And Greer's.

aka episode 100!

AAAAARRRGH !!! Be still my heart!

Well, I was right it'd be Elias' last episode...
I think Elias enjoyed playing The Man in the Suit for Harold, even if for a short time. :)

but oh boy, Root!! Though with 3 more episodes to go, I wasn't expecting them to kill Root, of all people, so soon. Though, okay, she would argue she just changed shapes. And I guess she'd see this as a perfect end for her. And the Machine chose her. Root's ultimate dream.
Not sure Shaw would feel the same way thought...

Root dead body at the morgue was a little painful...  :'(

A LOT of shootings and explosions in that episode...

Now Greer and Samaritan better be prepared, hurrican Harold is coming their way...

Ok, now we're back to one episode a week. If they're all as intense as this, it's just as well I think...

And now I'm gonna rewind to yesterday happy scene by the bridge.... *snif*

ETA: also Harold and Root's discussion about the Machine's free will to pick up her own name made me smile. The machine actually did choose a name and a face back in what? S2? S1 even, maybe? It was Ernest Thornhill... And all this time, Root has called her "she"... ;)

See I even made an icon. I'm falling hard. And so late...

spoilers for episode 5x09 )
Oh CBS you're so messing things around...

Shaw made it out!! *happy dance* You go girl! Now, it's only a matter of barely 8000 miles (13 000 km). With Samaritan on your heels... Piece of cake!

Bear!!
(Pretty sure that's a different dog though LOL)

Fusco is mad! Fusco is out! He does have a point, but it makes me sad. He's right, after everything he's done for them, he deserves a little more trust. Especially when it's obvious keeping him in the dark won't protect him. Come on, boys, don't let Fusco go... Talk to him!

I did like John and Harold keeping vigil outside his hospital room. Speaking of, Lionel sure has a tough skin. He looks pretty good for someone who almost got buried in a tunnel.

Samaritan is scary!! *shivers*

I wonder if Samaritan's asset won't switch side though. At least finaly one who doesn't blindly follow orders. Also I wonder who were those people Fusco found in the tunnel. It did occur to me they could have been rebellous assets, but then, there was Bruce. Or are they people that Samaritan see as future threats that should be removed out of the equation?

OMG Fusco! Not Fusco! *chew nails* Machine, what's your point if you can't see people from your team! Don't let Fusco die!
Maybe it' a good thing that CBS is showing 2 episodes a week after all. (TV schedule is listing it an hour earlier tomorrow, by the way, don't miss it!)

But I have to say, John's face when he sees the stripper and when the girl wants him to join. ROTF

"Why? Finch doesn't sing to you?"

Really, Samaritan, that's your best plan to win Shaw over? Don't you remember she was on the relevant side? She should know enough about all this stuff. I honestly doubt Greer - or creepy kid - seems a more appealing boss than Control...

Also, did you know that the Chicago PD actually has its own machine?! An algorithm that looks at crime patterns to try and predit crimes. For real.
Episode 5. It's passing by so fast. I'm starting getting anxious...

And I who so naively thought we were done with Elias. *sigh* Still not sure why a mob boss deserves so much care from Team Machine.

It's when you give a big sigh of relief that it's not Samaritan who took John that you realize just how terrified you are by Samaritan. ^^ "oh it's just a regular bad guy, John's good!" ...

And one bar fight, check. Okay, at the barber, but that still counts. Though no bonus point because no one flew out the window.

That simulation doesn't bode well... At least they don't pretend not being totally screwed. I'm still very curious to see how they're going to solve it. They're not going to let Samaritan win, can they?

Short random thoughts regarding episode 3.

That was an awesome variation on the main credits!

One car crash, check. The show must have a hell of a car budget...

"2015" - 2015! See, CBS, you screwed up with the show timeline! It was supposed to be 2015!

Hey, one not so bad guy in the CIA?

John!!! John ?! What the... ?! NO! No no no! Why are you doing that? Don't push her away! Don't let the brunette get into your head! You can't trust her! She shot you remember? Why don't you listen to Carter's ghost from last season instead ? Iris is good for you. Don't do the same mistake all over again.

(Yes, I'm totally shipping John/Iris. I would sooo love a happy ending for those two. I'm perfectly aware that a happy ending is rather unlikely given the show, but hey, one can dream? At least, if both could make it out alive, that'd be good. Then I can imagine my off-screen happy ending.)

So last week episode was okay, kinda transition between seasons. But OH MY GOD tonight's episode !!! Hilarious, and heartbreaking and scary... ♥♥♥
This last season is gonna be a hell of a ride (on a subway train ahahah)

I might have to rewatch it, but is it because it's now an open system that the Machine suddenly takes initiatives like sending people to kill John ?! The Machine wasn't taking initiatives like that before, was it?
I know they're looking for Sameen, but isn't there a BIG risk here to turn it into another Samaritan ?
Short version: if any of you had been waiting to know if 1- it was worth watching, and 2- it will be given a satisfactory ending in case it wouldn't be renewed, I would say the answer is yes, to both account.

The long rambly and illustrated version )
Hey, any tank left for me? That show is *really* bad for my poor little heart. I thought I'd die before the end of the episode.

On an unrelated note, thank you, American Airlines and Coach USA, for flying and driving me home on time. I do miss the warmth of Texan spring, but I wouldn't have missed that finale for anything in the world.

Squeeee and feeeeels and angst and Duval ♥♥ and feeeels (oh and just a few pictures) )

ARGH (again)

Mar. 25th, 2016 09:43 pm
aragarna: (Tim Second Chance)
They killed me. All of them. Jimmy, Duval, Otto, Mary, Alexa...
The least they could do is to bring me back to life, too, don't you think?
How long can those titles get?!

So after a hell of a frustrating week, I couldn't wait for my weekly date with Duval. And at 5 pm yesterday, I was ambushed by my boss asking me if I wanted to go to dinner with the team. Argh. A TV show is not really an excuse, right? And I don't want it to prevent me from socializing. I need real people in my life just as much as I need fictional ones. So I went. And oh miracle, I made it home at 7.55 pm! So I both ate a wonderful piece of steak, and I got my date with Duval. Made up for all the crap of the week. :)

On to the squee )
I think I'm a sucker for the "I care about you more than you'll ever know" trope.

This is something that happened a lot in White Collar, and one of the things I love about Peter. He can have all the reasons in the world to be mad at Neal, but the moment Neal is in danger, or someone tries to come between them, Peter takes Neal's side. Same with Neal. He'd do anything for Peter - including faking his death to keep him and his family safe...

So I was watching Second Chance last week and

when Jimmy was held at gun point, Duval suddenly became all bossy with Otto, menacing him to put a gun to his head.

And that just made me smile. Cause, you know, no matter what, it's still his father, and Duval does care.

And then, I decided to run a The Americans marathon to refresh my memory before season 4, and in the Pilot
Elizabeth and Philip are at odds because Philip wants to defect, and also, they're just pretending to be a couple. But when Philip learns that Elzabeth had been raped in the past, he just kills the guy right there.

Those are actions that speak volume about a character's real feelings. Feeling that they rarely express in words, or that they're not even aware of, or are struggling with. But then there's that thing that happens, and they act on their true heart, and it's beautiful. I just love those moments.

Anyway, that was my little meta of the day. I had to share.
Side grammar note: Shouldn't it be "be forgotten"?

And more to the point, I can't believe this is episode 8 already. *sigh* But this is going to be sooo epic!

This way for the squee and some badass angry Duval )
