So it's about a cop who catches red-handed a conman and offers said conman a deal to work together. Rocky at first, their partnership soon turns into a real friendship (and maybe more?). It's called Zootopia. *grin*

Yay! Finally got to see it! And I really liked it. And thank you, Disney, for dropping the princess thing. The heroine wants to become a cop, becomes a cop. She's strong, and badass, and not girly. And not a freaking princess. She's modern. This is the kind of heroine I wish were more common when I was growing up. Because it's okay not to want to be a princess.

Also, the movie deals with surprisingly complex/serious issues for a kid movie. Racism, the difficulty to live up to your ideals of acceptance and tolerance, how fragile it all is.

And since I had finally seen The Godfather 2 months ago, I was really happy to be able to catch the reference. :D

Definitely worth watching. It just came out on DVD here. Not sure on your side of the pound, but it shouldn't be too long. :)

Zootopia was great! I instantly thought of Neal with the Popsicle scam. I have the Officer Hopps funky on my desk!

For a WC fan, it's impossible not to think about Neal. That fox was *so* Neal! (which would make the little fennec.... Mozzie... *g*)

This sounds fantastic - I havent seen it yet. I loved Brave due to getting rid of the destiny crap and confronting the ridiculous notion that a prince is needed. This goes a step further and that's just what our society needs. Really looking forward to the dvd. Thanks for reviewing.

Yes! Brave was another great character. I don't know what it is with princesses. I've never wanted to be one, and certainly not dress like one. I ended identifying much more with boy characters.

And even in the recents films, they have a hard time getting rid of that princess thing. Frozen, despite great characters, is still about princesses. Even the Princess and the Frog! I really loved that one, but why throw a princess in the mix ?! To make it sound more Disneylike?

So in Zootopia, I really liked that it's a normal girl, and that it doesn't actually matter that it's a girl.

Oh and it's not about loooove. When I heard that people were petitioning about giving Elsa a girlfriend (in Frozen) my first reaction was that they should first stop dressing all heroines like princesses and stop with the underlying message that love is the ultimate goal in life, be it a prince or another princess...
So how refreshing to have all this in Zootopia, despite it being a Disney movie. :)

I went out and bought the DVD toda - figured it was better than wasting the money on a streaming rental and then buying it! So, we'll watch it this weekend. I just showed my mom the Sloth trailer and she loved it. I pretty much figured with that kind of humor, we're good. :D

I was ready to buy the DVD went I was told about the screening at the football stadium. I might still buy it at some point.

Oh boy the scene at the DMV with the sloth is such a riot! The fact that it's the DMV makes it even better!

You're definitely good. :)

Yeah, since we have similar taste, I felt confident in buying it! Besides, I'm a Disney nut. :D I'd go to see Finding Dory if it wasn't so expensive to go out these days. One DVD pays for 2+ tickets - and you can have peace and quiet! So we'll wait on it.
