So, I'm back! \o/ I'd love to make a coherent yet not tedious summary of that wonderful week I spent with
nieseryjna and my friend Tim in Scotland, but wow that might be quite a challenge. Especially given how busy I am, how I find myself trapped into unexpected businesses and there seems to be a backward Sherlock marathon tonight. So how about a simple random recap instead. Assorted with pictures of course.
So there were castles, rain, sun, clouds, daffodils, the first landing field in history, sheep and sheeplets, long hair cows, rainbows, drunks in Glasgow stil able to give you useful bus directions, a volcano in the middle of the city, tours of gift shops, lochs and their wee monsters, mountains, fine pieces of ingeneering, William Wallace, Whisky tasting, driving on the left with a French car - driven by a Scot, B&B in the middle of nowhere, in the dark, the most classy University library, Starbucks, the Harry Potter viaduc from the other side, flowers, bagpipes...
Also, Nie didn't manage to crack the safe...
And here are some illustrations:
The Forth Bridge

Edinburgh castle, by night and by day

The Aberdeen University Library

The Angels' Share

Loch Ness and a wee castle

hmmm, another loch?

a highland cow!

Sheep!!!

Eileen Donan Castle

Highlanders!

The Wallace Monument, in loving memory of William Wallace, the great hero.

Smart system to connect the canal to the river below: The Falkirk Wheel.

En route to Hogward!

Date: 2014-04-17 09:54 pm (UTC)Loch Ness brings back lovely memories - the castle is called Urquhart Castle (though I admit to having to ask hubby as I couldn't remember offhand). I should really go visit to other places too, they all look great!
Glad you had a good time and yay, you're back *gentle glomp*
EDIT: Though I'm rather concerned about this safe cracking... :)

We had a great time! The company was delightful. :-)
As for the safe cracking... Well, all we'll say is that it involved the Royal Bank of Scotland, a mysterious code and a really nice guard named Alex.
(And the Museum of Money)
