Post the last twenty-one first lines you wrote in fanfic. If you want to ask me about any of these, I'll talk about how I came up with it/why I wrote it that way, if I remember, or a factoid about writing the story.
From the newest published work to the oldest.
1. It isn’t happening.
2. The door of the café opened, letting in the unmistakable figure of one Neal Caffrey.
3. Neal.
4. Peter’s heart was heavy when he left his Brooklyn house that morning.
5. After the longest and most trying six weeks of her life, Elizabeth wasn’t sure how much more she could take.
6. Peter was standing at the kitchen island, staring at his phone lying still next to his forgotten and cold coffee.
7. Peter lets the hot water run down his body, as if it could wash all the dirt inside him.
8. It was the night before Christmas.
9. Peter sat at his little desk by the window of his bedroom.
10. It feels like he’s falling in a bottomless well.
11. Peter hates himself.
12. Peter pushed the entrance door of his Brooklyn home.
13. Peter walks into the parlor escorted by a guard.
14. Neaaaal!
15. One particular Tuesday night… (Should have been Thursday but I didn't know that at the time)
16. When she realizes this is her third attempt at reading the same paragraph, Elizabeth sighs tiredly and closes her book.
17. Everybody knows about his lucky tie.
18. When she heard the doorbell she rushed to the door, her heart filled with anticipation and hope.
19. “Man, that hurts!” Neal whined.
20. “James Bennett is nowhere to be found,” Callaway announced as she entered the interrogation room.
21. The takedown had gone smoothly.
So.... What am I supposed to do of that? Some of them are particularly short. Also, overall, unsurprisingly a lot of Peter. Either Peter doing something or Peter's thoughts. Including 2 "Neal". One thought, one screamed. ;-) And even though I did write several fics featuring equally Peter and Neal, only one seems to start with Neal's POV. (though #14 is too, but you can't tell from that one line).
Most of them are pretty obscure without any context. I guess you can't judge a fic by its first sentence.
