I could write a whole paragraph on how strange weather can be - after the coldest spring in history, meet the hottest month of July of the century.... and pin it on Global Warming.... But I'll spare you that and instead will sum it up in 2 pictures.

This is what I desesperately need

...because this is really how I feel!

Yeah.

It's actually cloudy here today, so my office isn't roasting the way it has been for the past two weeks (lots of cheap, uninsulated windows facing a parking log without trees).

But they said the heat was going to break here this week, but no sign of the humidity going anywhere.

:(

Last week was hot but bearable, but today is really a misery here.
I woke up this morning and despite keeping windows wide opened all night, it didn't cool down in my apartement... 28°C in the morning, that's no good...
And here at work, I'm sweating while seated on my chair ! (I think it's time for a second trip to the air conditioned experiment room!)

I *desperately* need Peter Burke too!!! :)

Yes, we do have air conditioning but it's still miserable. The humidity is terrible right now.

No A/C in my office. But no A/C waiting for me at home either... And in between, a promising subway ride... I don't know what to do... Oh but I do have ice-cream at home...

(I think I'll have to cowboy up and actually do what I was thinking about doing for a week: go to work at the wee hours...)

Of course you need Peter! And the A/C unit too! *hugs* *offers ice pack and ice cream*

It's been too hot for me the last couple of weeks too - it looked like it was going to reduce to 20-22C later this week, but now they've revised that to 24C! Which I guess is still an improvement on 28C - but why do I get a feeling the weather forecast will be revised again, upwards?!

Weather, what are you doing?!!

Oh god, I'd so love a 24 ! It's 34°C today (that's what they said anyway. It feels like much more!)

I'm actually to a point that I'm more craving for AC than for Peter... Though the ideal would be Peter bringing me the AC... ;-)

I just remembered someone mentioning last week there were some Mr Freezes in a fridge 2 floors down. I went for a raid, and found me some. I feel a little better. :-)

There's many a reason why I like where I live, and this is one of them! Of course, us Brits don't know how to cope with the heat... or the cold!

LOL! Of course, Peter bringing you the AC would be best! But yeah, it must be hot when you'd prefer the AC to him! *hugs again*

Ah yes, I understand you sooo well. I can't cope with neither heat nor cold either !

Oh god, yeah. Gimme that A/C unit! (Of course, I'll also take Peter, but right now, the A/C's actually more enticing!)

We hit the triple digits here today (aka, 38°C). No A/C at work, but a huge glass front in the office facing south-west. *melts* No A/C at home either, of course.

Us Europeans are poor souls. *feels sorry for us*

Oh poor you ! At least my office is not directly facing the sun (until evening anyway)

yes we are ! Where are you from ?

The A/C, or the guy carrying it? ;)

Yeah, it's finally gotten cool here (in Alaska, June is usually the hottest month, and then temperatures moderate in July and August) but we had some miserable, sweltering days back in late June -- mid-90s (so upper 30s for the rest of the world), and most homes are built to trap heat, not to cool off. At one point I started driving down to the library to hang out there, just because they have air conditioning ...

ahah yeah, I went several times to the room with AC during the day, just to cool off, even though I can't do much there besides reading a paper, because I don't have any experiment running right now.

And I'm really tempted to go see a movie, no matter the movie, just for the AC too.

I feel your pain. It is 103 in Utah today and those pictures of Peter are not helping me cool down!

Ah I just saw it! Actually a switch from working during the day to work during the night in this weather is not a bad idea. Problem is that everyone expects you to be awake when the sun is up... crazy people. I could use A/C at Sunday! Right now I'm just happy my windows face North/West which mean I will got sun trying to kill me somewhere around 3 PM...

LOL yeah, not a bad idea, but my body doesn't agree. I set my alarm clock (really) early this morning, but god was it hard to get out of bed !

I did manage to get to work early, and it's already hot in my office... :-(

It's gonna be a long day... So, I'm trying to be efficient enough this morning, not to feel too guilty this afternoon, doing nothing...

My body doesn't agree too much either after yesterday marathon 24 hours on 1 hour of sleep, then 3 hours for a nap and let's start again. I'm just glad to work from home!

oh wow that's not much sleep ! No wonder your body doesn't agree ! I'd be falling asleep...

Surprisingly the fuzziness around the mind is going away, but I will probably end with a nap anyway, some later in the day.
