Day 22 - The most underrated movie.
Solaris. The 2002 version, by Steven Soderbergh. It was an epic box-office fail, because it was marketed as a sci-fi movie, when truly, it was a simple, wonderful love story. I can't really explain why, but that movie moved me to the core. It was like nothing I had seen before. Also, probably the first time George Clooney was truly going out of his comfort zone to show something different.
Oh and that makes me think. I do have a favorite actress. Viola Davis! I was really disappointed in HTGAWM last year - though she totally deserved that emmy - so I kinda forgot how much I love her. Actually the one reason I wanted to watch the show was Viola Davis. And I don't think there is another actress that would make me want to check a show just for her.
I saw her the first time in Solaris, and she has such a huge presence. Ever since, I've been a fan. I did notice her in older films that I saw later (in a bunch of other Soderbergh movies, including Out of Sight). I haven't actually followed her, but seeing her in something is always pure delight, and I am sooo happy that she's getting so much recognition (even if for a show I don't like ahaha).
