OH. MY. GOD. That episode... Ever since I heard about the plot of the show, this was the one scene I was really looking forward to. The father/son confrontation when Duval finds out Jimmy is his dad. Couldn't wait to see Tim act this out. And that was awesome. If you ever wonder what is it in Tim that I love so much (apart from him being the most adorable human being), it's exactly this. How he plays emotions, raw and human, and real.
That first scene. Guh. Duval being so lost, refusing to believe what he's seeing, despite the evidence, despite what they're all telling him. That was so beautiful.
And even more beautiful, I think, when we understand later, while talking to his sister, that he simply doesn't know how to react to his father coming back. What is he supposed to say? feel?
And I'm loving the relationship between Jimmy and Duval even more with each episode. There's tension, but there's also regret, and caring, despite everything. They both seem they wouldn't waste that second chance. And Tim and Rob seem to have really found their rhythm. They're really a delight to watch.
"Don't you have a tank to get back to?"
I hope Duval will quickly tell Gracie. And Helen as well.
A spirit board, though? Seriously Helen?
It did make for a funny scene. Oh and I love Helen and Gracie's apartes on Jimmy and Duval's backyard arguments. It was nice to see them more. And to see a bit more of Duval's daddy side. Or should I say Duvie. ;)
I missed Alexa, but we had a great scene between Mary and Otto to make up for it. I have to say I'm really happy with the portrait of Otto. He's a genius and socially awkward, but he's not an ass either (too many shows are playing the Sheldon-like card and that's getting old). It nice to see Otto does have feelings and emotions.
I also like the portraits of all the women in the show. Gracie is smart and intuitive, Mary is a CEO with a good heart, and pretty perceptive too.
The ending made me LOL. I don't really care for the White Collar comparisons. I'm watching Second Chance for what it is, but when Duval's boss told him about his CI and he slowly turns around with that sort of haunted look "tell me this isn't happening again"....
I really feel like this show is getting better and better every week.
And can I just be a little superficial for a minute and say how good Tim looks in that show? Great suits, great haircut... Oh and those grey temples ♥♥♥

Date: 2016-02-07 06:45 pm (UTC)That opening scene was so incredibly fulfilling and everything I could have ever hoped that confrontation to be. Tim is just amazing. Purely amazing.
I completely agree with you. I liked the characters so far, but these past two episode, I feel like I am growing to love them. Duval and Jimmy really are building a chemistry, I love Mary, and even Otto, who I was kind of on the fence about, is starting to grow on me.
I know you said you don't care much for the White Collar comparisons, but that last scene with the comment about his CI is just too funny.... I am glad I am not the only one that thought Tim finished that scene with a "Oh, no, NOT AGAIN!" look on his face. ;)

ETA: My favorite quote of the series so far: "Don't you have a tank to get back to?" :D

Date: 2016-02-07 07:03 pm (UTC)I agree with you the characters are growing on me with each episode. Duval and Jimmy remain my favorite, but they're all very enjoyable.
And of course so much love for Tim. I can't get enough of him in this episode. ♥♥

Date: 2016-02-08 12:14 am (UTC)The only thing that bothered me was how quickly Duval's boss went from being suspicious of his work to accepting Jimmy as his CI. I would have like to see that particular story line continue a bit longer.

Date: 2016-02-08 01:15 pm (UTC)And I know I'm biased too, but when I heard all the name changed I couldn't help but wonder if it was because they changed the focus of the show to be more about the Pritchards (and Tim) because Tim brings so much to the show.

Date: 2016-02-08 01:45 pm (UTC)The ep is awesome!! the first minutes.. are of pure absolute gold!! Tim is spectacular in showing all the shades of his emotions the disbelief, the thought of being duped, the need for confirmation the anger and the regret and also the disappointment for thinking he had left the relationship with his father.. behind .(I buried you).. and then the fear and the tension of knowing that things that were left unresolved still are there between them! a chapter of his life he believed closed is now still open and with aspects and absolutely unpredictable implications...what can I say this series is becoming better and better
...and the CI thing ...how cannot you let your mind go there ..my CI is better than your CI !!! ehehe
