This is heartbreaking and sickening. I can't help but think I was living there not so long ago. It was my life. It could have been me. I could have been going out tonight, could have been a victim, or at least been caught in the fear and confusion of a major city closing down afterward, on a Friday night.

Each time I hear updates, the number of casualties have increased, and it hurts a little more. I'm glad that I don't live in Paris anymore. I feel Madison, is negligible enough to be safe. And yet, it's also hard to be so far from my country in events like that.

Thank you to all for your kind words. They are truly appreciated. It brings little comfort to know people care and that we're not alone.

when these tragedies happened we are all involved these terrorists hit innocent people to sow fear and terror but we can't accept this ..
My heart is with all the "Parisiens" but the best answer we can give to these terrorist is what the citizens that were at the "Stade de France " did while they were stacked in queue exiting after the game .. they started singing "The Marseillaise"Terrorism can't win..

I was thinking of you this morning. I understand being freaked out. It's horrifying to have something like this happen so close to home, even if you're not present. I'm glad you're safe in Madison and that your family is safe. I hope all your friends are safe, as well.

*bearhugs* I heard about it late at night yesterday, and at first, I couldn't believe it, and I'm still shell-shocked about the death toll. Thank God, I don't have to worry about anyone I know being there right now, but it shook me to the core nonetheless. It's cowardly to attack innocent people, who has nothing to do with whatever reason the attackers have.

Yes, I'm shell-shocked myself. It's terrible. And I'm afraid it's going to become a new normal, living with this constant fear that it could happen again, anywhere.
And it feels even worse for me, that I know the place. I've walked those neighborhoods, I could still be living there, and I can't imagine what it must feel like for the people there.
