Ah! Jeez, took me a while. I knew there was a reason why I was associating ice creams with Alain Souchon. At first I thought it was from J'ai 10 ans. But nope. Limonade, chewing gums, but no mention of ice creams.
BUT I found it! It's a more recent one (1999... yes, that's relatively recent. I remember when that album came out. As opposed to growing up with the older songs.) Tailler la zone. He dreams of going away with an ice cream vendor. :) (The clip, no matter how official, doesn't go well with the lyrics if you ask me...)

My mom was a big fan of Alain Souchon, so I grew up with him. He's a true poet and I still love his songs today. He had quite a career. Started around the 70 I believe, and still sucessful today, even if he's not that active anymore.
Oh and talk about a true bromance. His BFF, Laurent Voulzy, is another singer. In more than 40 years of career, they've almost always written each other's songs (Alain Souchon would write the lyrics, Laurent Voulzy would compose the music). Last year, they finally released their first duo album. :)
They're so deeply associated with my childhood, that I have flashes of my childhood each time I hear one of their songs. There's a song where Souchon calls himself a "bathroom singer" (like a loser), and I'm no kidding you, it brings back images of the old bathroom of my parents' house, that has been renovated like 20 years ago. (I know it's a metaphore, but at 5 years old, I was taking things quite literally, so I was picturing him singing in a bathroom... LOL And it stuck with me.)

I did warn at the beginning that there would be lots of French music. ;) I have a much better knowledge of French music than English - or anything else.

But that's a great occasion for you to discover some good French songs.
