So, on Saturday, I was complaining about the general lack of real snow so far. Apart one major snow fall at the very beginning of January, all we've had were grey low skies and that shitty snow-turning-to-mud that is supposed to be March, but certainly not the crisp snowy winter I was promised. Of course, just to contradict me (unless it was to please me?) it started to snow Saturday night. It snowed all day on Sunday. And it even snowed again this afternoon. Like big real snowfalls.
I don't have to shovel - I'm living in an apartment. I don't have to drive (thankfully!) - I'm 10 minutes by feet from work. I can even go to the grocery store without exiting the building. And the University screenings at the Union have resumed, so I can also go see movies 10 minutes from home. I have a super down-filled winter jacket and I invested in good winter boots.
So, see, I have none of the downsides of snow - well, apart from cold, but one can't get it all, right? So, I'm just HAPPY. Snow makes me happy. :)
Snow talks to my inner child. I can literally feel it. I'm getting out in the morning, and as I walk in the snow, I'm all excited. I just smile, and I just want to go make a snowman, or find someone to have a snow fight. Go sledging. I walk on the sides of the pathways to walk in a max of snow.
Snow was rather exceptional where I grew-up, and one tiny snow flake would qualify as a snowfall. I remember a couple times where there was enough snow in the garden to make a snowman, but I mostly remember snow-less winters. So, snow is always really exciting.
Also, snow is mostly synonymous of holidays. When I was a kid, we used to go to go ski in the mountains (mostly the Alps. A couple times The Pyrénées.), so snow = good times.
So, I could complain about that freaking online instrument-booking system at 6:30:00 that I've failed 3 times already, I could complain about my general fatigue due to, well, winter. But hey, who cares, because SNOW. :)
(Also, we've done enough complaining and ranting about annoying things for today on LJ, right? ;-) )

Date: 2015-02-04 06:16 am (UTC)Yay for snow! Here at the North Pole/Syberia for some ;) snow this winter was so far very sparse. We got something in December that survied more than a day but otherwise it started to snow just at the end of January and little by little its still snows some every day. I was waiting for it as much as you did. Snow is fun!
