Stolen from all my friends.... ;-)
Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll tell you what happened, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

Date: 2012-11-27 06:24 pm (UTC)Peter is still the SAIC of the White Collar unit - 28 years of service ! - while Elizabeth continues to run Premiere Events. Her little entreprise has grown nicely and now she has 3 employees.
And Neal, you wonder ? Well, after a few years of going around the world, and free consulting for the FBI waiting for a job offer, Neal is finally an official consultant. He'll be celebrating his 10 years next year, and will get his very own ring. Rose is planning a big party for her godfather.

Date: 2012-11-29 04:54 pm (UTC)So... One hour before, Neal is about to get to bed. He has just left his father at Monday, where Mozzie has reluctantly agreed to host him, for his safety. (Mozzie gets tired of burning his safe houses all the time! They are not safe houses if everyone keeps visiting!)
Neal and James are playing a strange game. Neal has really mixed feeling about the whole situation. He has been waiting for this moment for 15 years now, but it wasn't supposed to be like that. His father wasn't supposed to be like that. What hurts Neal the most is to see how much alike they are. His father keeps deceiving, giving vague answers, and deflecting. Of course, Neal being who he is, he sees right through it. And it hurts, realizing he is truly his father's son. Peter had almost convinced him of the contrary...
Neal doesn't know where to stand with Peter either. At first, he was mad. He meant - at least he thought he meant - what he said. Peter screwed up, he didn't trust him, never would. Neal was better without him. That's what Neal tried hard to believe after James' disappearance. But James wasn't really gone. James, that liar who was his father. While Peter... Neal had noticed all the little gestures, the tentatives to make peace, Peter staying there without imposing himself. When Peter had told him James was his father, Neal had expected Peter to rush to his apartement. But Peter didn't. Neal said he wanted to be alone, and Peter left him alone. But did he really want to be alone ?
Neal realizes it is not easy to cut bonds with such a true friend. It hurts. It actually hurts more than the betrayal.
So, now Neal is left with a father he isn't able to trust, and a missing friend. He feels lost.
On the other side of town, Peter and El are about to get to bed too. Peter is lucky to have El in his life. He realizes that, as he tells her - once again - how bad he feels for betraying Neal, how worried he is for his friend. Elizabeth listens, patiently. She doesn't say much. That's not necessary. She knows her husband by heart. She knows he isn't asking for advice. He is asking for comfort, and there is nothing like El's gentle hugs when you're sad.

Date: 2012-12-06 05:59 pm (UTC)Peter stands in the middle of the room, his packages still in his arms. His eyes have caught his daughter, resting in a rocking chair, oblivious of everything going on around her. She is rocking her son, his grand-son. As he watches her, Peter remembers when he was rocking his newborn. So frail, so small, and now, all grown-up, and so beautiful. She has just become a parent too. He remembers how terrified he was, and so happy at the same time. In a flash, he sees her again when she was one day old. And then, when she was one year old. Her first steps, her first words. Peter remember the Christmas, the parties, the first boyfriends. The first day of school and the say she moved out. The first time they met Tom and the wedding...
Peter realizes his eyes are wet. He looks at El and smiles. She has tears in her eyes too. Peter can tell she feels the same sas he does. So moved, so proud,so happy.
They are grandparents now.
