So today, at the lab, we had a chill water / chiller failure and mayhem. Whatever. Even the people who have been there for 10 years can't agree on how things are actually run in that stupid building. Bottom line: The Machine (a big ion probe) is partially cooled by water. Water that thus needs to be cooled beforehand. So whatever f*ck-up happened today somewhere on campus messed up with the building's chiller, and ended in us not receiving water. The Machine shut down.

And what did John do?

He ran to the streets, grabbed one of those big liquid nitrogen can that you can actually find in the streets of New York, and cooled down The Machine with liquid nitrogen!!! How cool is that!!

John Reese is my hero. Well, would have been if he could have saved *my* machine.

But because we don't have a John Reese, we had to shut it all off. Hopefully it'll be back up and flowing again tomorrow. But I just wasted 2 freaking days of tuning and analyses.

The one positive thing about this big fail? I did get to be home on time for the Person of Interest premiere. :)

What an epic, fantastic episode!!! I so can't wait for the next one. All those Machine, Harold and Root moments, awwwww. And Lionel still in the dark. And... so many feels.

Good luck with your ion probe!

LOL!! Now that would have been good, for John to have been there!!!

Not seen the ep yet, only just downloading it, and then... well, RL and all that. But hopefully I'll catch up soon!

Even if we didn't have a problem with the machine, I wouldn't have minded having John at the lab ;)
Although... He often means troubles...

I finally managed to watch it. Is that for real? It seems so dangerous to have tanks of liquid nitrogen lying around for every passing hero to grab.

Those liquid nitrogen bottles in the middle of Manhattan are a real thing. I've seen them. They're meant to keep the copper cables of the burried landline network dry.

And overclocking is actually a thing, there are even competitions, and they do cool down the computers with liquid nitrogen! :)
