Feelings of Interest

Seriously, sometimes Person of Interest just comes out with those big episodes that leave you with sooo much feelings.
And that was sooo brilliant. And oh boy, John...

Funny cause around mid-season, I was becoming skeptical about the whole Samaritan conspiracy thing. This was becoming too big, too crazy. The Machine was difficult to grasp completely at first, but I managed to accepted the idea. Just a big algorithm reading your emails and spying on you (every hour of every day blah blah) and able to detect between the lines what you're up to. Not *so* different from what the NSA is actually trying to do.
But Samaritan and that old wrinkled guy, I find it all a little too much. Samaritan is way too powerful. There's just no way they can realistically beat it at this point. It's an AI. You can't shoot it. It's smart enough to relocate itself, so it's unreachable, unkillable. So, what? It feels to me we're all doomed. Also, I feel like the show isn't clear whether the brain behind "Samaritan" is actually the AI or the wrinkled guy (I'm sorry his name is escaping me now). Cause, it'd seem to me that Samaritan doesn't need any master. So why is it taking orders from that guy? What are his final plans? How in the world is this going to end (without all the "team Machine" dying)?

So at some point this season, I felt tired of this all mayhem that didn't make much sense and was impossible to follow. And then a couple great episodes came along. There was this weird one, when we lost Shaw, that left me with mixed feeling (regarding Samaritan) but I *loved* the Machine going into "simplified mode".

And lately, we've mostly given up on Samaritan, and we're back to great cases of the week, and I fell back in love with my show.

Oh and that shrink... I'm very worried about her, cause this is stil PoI, you know, John is doomed and something is gonna happen. But I love John with her.

And so, for that last episode. Yay Carter!!
And John! Don't you just want to hug him tight? This big guy, former assassing and all, he has so many feelings hidden under that suit... He can look so vulnerable sometimes.
Of course, my mind had to try and figure out how to make all those feelings into a WC story. I do have an idea, though I'm not sure I'd be able to match the brilliance of that episode.


Anyway, long story short, I think they should drop the Samaritan conspiracy story and focus on characters and saving people. *That* is the PoI I love. And make more close-ups on Jim Caviezel.

Totally agree about the Samaritan thing, I'm getting mightily fed up with it! Please can they stick to doing what they do well, dealing with the numbers that come up!!

And then, just as I'm wondering why I'm still watching it and whether I'm still all that interested really, BAM! An Episode of Great Awesomeness and Much Angst hits me in the face!! Wow!! It was like they knew my exact level of angst to make me squee and want to hug John tightly, without over or under doing it!! Yay!! :D

I'm hoping they wrap the Samaritan thing up this season, though I have NO idea how they could possibly defeat a machine like this! Then get back to saving lives, with episodes like this every now and then. That would make me happy.

EDIT: Also more Bear! I can never get enough of Bear!! :D :D :D

Yes, same. Though it's been a few episodes now that I'm liking it again. Since Shaw disappeared I think (not that I didn't like her. Actually if I had to make one disappear it'd be Root), and since the first episode with the lady shrink. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up, but I ship them. :)

About this one ep, they're really good at finding the exact dosage of vulnerability in John without making it too cheesy. And it was also very well done.

I did love in the flashback Harold complaining about the dog eating his priceless books ^^. But yes, we need more Bear.

I totally agree. I really prefer this show when it's about helping the average regular person. I just can't get into this big storyline.

And it was great to see Carter again and the character focus.

Oh yes, I'm missing Carter so much! I really liked her character. Much more than Root and Shaw.

I think it doesn't help that they keep dropping the big story for a few eps, and then suddenly we're back into it and we've forgotten all about it. How many times have I been scratching my head "do I know this guy? Am I supposed to know what's going on here?"

I find the Samaritan angle very sinister with the old man really creeps me out, they possibly have a serious god complex.
I loved how John opened up to Carter while still appearing reserved. I have grown to like Fusco. Would love to read yur WC story.

Ah right one of the things that irks me is the way certain characters see the Machine or Samaritan as gods. And the whole "talk through a boy" was totally wtf. They're smart machines, but still very much just machines. No need to worship them or give them feelings.

I kind of like the Samaritan plot. I think it's amazing how they manage to push the story forward while still keeping the basics the same. As long as it doesn't get too depressing.

And I think this episode was meant to get John together with the shrink. I guess we'll see next week :-)

Ahahah yes, definitely meant to get John and the shrink take the next step. ;)
I really enjoy their relationship, but I'm scared because no relationship ever last in that show... I'm really worried about her.

I do like shows that know how to move forward, but I still feel that plot is way too big to be realistically solved... We'll have to wait and see. :)
